Regeneration

Text: Ezekiel 36:21-38

What is Regeneration?

It is the birth of a New Spirit. The Bible says in Ezekiel 36:26-27: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.  I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”

This Birth is of Divine Origin

John 1:12-13 reads: “But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave them power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God”

This New Birth is also called a New Creation

The Bible says in Second Corinthians 5:17-19: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a New Creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.”

This New Birth is essential for Salvation

Titus 3:3-7 states: “For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.  But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

This New Birth is Essential for Spiritual Vision

John 3:3 states : Jesus answered Nichodemus, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one  is born anew, he cannot see the Kingdom of God”

How Does this New Birth work?

Like Nichodemus asked Jesus in John 3:4: “How can a man be born anew when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” We have the answer in First Peter 1:23 “You have been born anew, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.” “It is God’s power unto salvation.” (Romans 1:16)

How Can this New Birth be Yours Right Now?

It is obtained by faith – First John 5:1 states it this way: “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the Child.”

I wrote this message for the launching of a musical album back in the day. I could not find the album online otherwise I would have provided a link to it. The album –I am Regenerated – outlines for us in musical arrangement everything we have been saying.

  • It began by assuring us that Regeneration is possible for they themselves – I mean the singers, by the grace of God –  have been regenerated. You too can also be regenerated.
  • It went on to say how – of course by coming under the Blood of Jesus. The Bible says without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. So, the power in power in the blood – the blood of the sinless Son of God, gives this New Birth.
  • As a result of this, the singers went on to make one of the greatest claims man can ever make – “I will never, never die” –simply because
  • He has through the New Birth got Eternal Life. This is all that Salvation is all about – you have been saved from death which the Bible asserts is the wages of sin.
  • This New Birth and New Life in Christ offer you the Light to walk through this life and Way to God. These two are found in no one else but in Christ. Christ is the Light of the world and the Way to God.
  • When this happens to you, then the Spirit will move in you to the glory of God. Then also the fire of enthusiasm and service will be lit in you again to the glory of God. Except this happens first, you work to your glory which God says He will never share with any man.
  • It asserts again that Jesus is the Bread of Life. Jesus will feed you as you go through life and in heaven. He is the Word of God which is the Bread of life.
  • Finally, it ends with the invitation “now come to this wonderful life”

I commend this album to you all but above that I invite you to come to Jesus now and be regenerated.

God bless you all!
