Can two walk together?

walking-together

Can two walk together except they agree? Let us look at eight things that characterize those who walk with God.

1. One who is ready to obey Him and be identified with Him as we find in the case of Daniel and the three Hebrew Children. Read John 14:21; 15:7. We need to be ready to obey
(a) in doing His commandments
(b) in giving Him control of your life
(c) in bearing fruit – by which the Father is glorified
(d) in loving one another
(e) in not hiding your talents and putting them to work

2. One who is ready to be the servant of all – showing humility in word, action and thought. Following the example of Jesus who washed His disciples’ feet, we should in like manner serve one another: God first, Others second, self last.

3. One who is not ashamed to make mistakes and admit error. Peter made so many mistakes but each mistake gave him an opportunity to grow. Look also at the examples of Daniel and Hezekiah.

4. One who is ready to learn from the Lord “Let My word dwell in you richly” Learn from the example of Timothy and his relationship with Paul.

5. One who is ready to stick out his neck for what he believes is the will  of God. Learn from the example of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (The three Hebrew children)

6. One who is ready to consider others and listen to their advice. Look at the example of Moses and His father-in-law Jethro.

7. One who is ready to do the extra mile and trust God for the impossible. Consider the example of Gideon and Joshua in their campaigns against the enemies of God and their nation.

8. One who is able to dream dreams – A man of vision – one who can see a little farther than others and be able to transmit his vision to his followers. One who is able to know when to seize the momentum – see the example of Nehemiah and Ezra.

Walking with God is simply making yourself available for God to use.
